Voluntary work can be incredibly rewarding, especially when you're volunteering for a cause as worthwhile as The Canterbury Gift.
Anyone who likes to be active and involved in activities that really give something back to the community makes an excellent volunteer. This can range from students to the retired, as it is your sense of purpose and action that really makes the difference, not your age.

Volunteer opportunities
Listed below are the current volunteer opportunities available at The Canterbury Gift. To apply for any of these positions you will need to complete a Volunteer Application Form (link?) and return it to us. You will be required to provide two referees that we are able to contact. Once we have done this, you will be asked to come for a short interview to see how your skills can best benefit The Canterbury Gift.
Welcomer
We are looking for volunteers to help meet and greet visitors at our Burgate headquarters. We are ideally looking for volunteers who could donate a morning, afternoon or whole day on a weekly basis.
Office Assistant
Our fundraising office can get very busy at various times of the year and the team can always use extra pairs of hands to help with tasks such as general office admin, compiling and mailing fundraising packs, and other general jobs. Although this may not be regular work, having a network of volunteers to call on in busy periods can be invaluable to the smooth running of the office.
Collection Box Co-ordinator
Canterbury Gift collection boxes are not only great for fundraising but they can also be a very visual tool for raising awareness. Placed in busy spots such as shops and local amenities they can help to spread the word about The Canterbury Gift. As a Collection Box Co-ordinator you will be responsible for placing the boxes around your town or village, and then emptying and maintaining them when the time comes. This opportunity is very flexible and perfect for people who want to fit volunteer work around an otherwise busy life.
Event Assistant
This role involves helping the fundraising team to plan and organise key fundraising events throughout the year. As an Event Assistant your role will be incredibly varied and could involve anything from setting up the venue to welcoming guests.
Canterbury Gift Representatives
Throughout the year we are invited by various organisations to speak about The Canterbury Gift. To enable us to accept the many invitations we receive, we need Representatives who can attend on our behalf. Volunteers wishing to become Representatives will receive training in using our PowerPoint presentation, advice on their role during the presentations and tips on public speaking, if required.
